TIMBER! DIX’S SECRET SCHEME TO FELL JOBS

VICTORIA – It’s time for the NDP to come clean and tell coastal forest workers how many of them will be fired with its scheme to ban log exports.

“The priority is to mill logs in British Columbia but there are times when the market dictates the logs need to be exported,” says Chilliwack MLA John Les. “That means the men and women who fall trees, who drive the logging trucks, can keep working and supporting their families. They need those jobs.”

Adrian Dix has no clear position on log exports – one day his party says ban them, then they say just reduce them – but his federal boss Thomas Mulcair made the party’s policy abundantly clear when speaking on CKNW last week: ban raw logs and put all those coastal workers out of a job.

“Adrian Dix must be honest with these workers and tell them which of them he wants to lose their job, and why the NDP wants to ban log exports as his boss in Ottawa wants,” says Les.
